Volunteer at the Ladles of Love soup kitchen happening every week on Saturdays at 12:00.
Soup kitchen volunteer duties include setting up our pop-up serving station, ladling soup, slicing bread, pouring drinks, food serving, queue management and cleaning up. You may also be asked to run our hand washing station with soap and towels so our guests can clean up before dinner.
We also encourage volunteers to take some time to chat to the team and to our homeless guests – it’s a great opportunity to connect with new and interesting people from all walks of life.
We have 3 kitchens each week that are dedicated to feeding the homeless community – we serve approximately 850 meals per week at these kitchens and the numbers are always growing. Each kitchen lasts 45-60 minutes, depending on how many guests we have to serve that day.
We’ve created a Code of Conduct that all volunteers are asked to read and comply with. These guidelines exist to ensure that our kitchens are fun, welcoming and safe space for everyone – guests and volunteers alike.
You don’t need to bring anything with you, all you need to do is arrive at the venue and our amazing team of volunteers will guide you from there.
Meet us at The Haven Night Shelter, Napier Street, Green Point.
